The Wing  is an embedded groundwork incorporating aluminium and ground lights. Set within a triangular meadow beneath some orchard trees, inspired by the historical marshlands and village; a pattern of lights reflects the delicate tracery of a dragonfly’s wing. This refers directly to the wildlife to be found alongside the local reserve adjacent to the site. The simple abstract design radiates out, eventually pointing towards The Rec an area of parkland nearby.  

The lighting scheme is based on the dot-dash components of Morse code and contains a hidden message which residents know and visitors can discover for themselves from the information board with Morse code alphabet and in the nearby museum there is Morse code equipment available which can be used in art education workshops.
