Nottingham City Council, Nottingham City PCT, and GN LIFT commissioned me as the Lead Artist to bring an imaginative approach to integrating art within the £22 million Joint Service Centre in Bulwell, located four miles north of Nottingham City Centre. Through the project document, Art at the Heart, I proposed a range of artworks, locations, artists, and budgets for both interior and exterior installations, as well as two artist residencies.

Collaboration began with the design team from the project's early stages, even before building acquisitions and demolition began. Our stakeholders and design team included CPMG Architects, FPRC Landscape, Laing O'Rourke, as well as community workers, residents, and service providers and users from the NHS and Nottingham City Council. The brief called for a creative strategy to unify artwork within the building and its surrounding areas. Through community consultations, I  developed a thematic concept that honours both the local community and the natural environment. The  document I produced, Art at the Heart, outlined recommendations for artwork placements, artist selections, timelines, and budgets. It also proposed film and photography residencies and multiple opportunities for artists to lead community-based creative events, all of which enriched the overall art strategy.
